April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 in seventh grade. She began playing the guitar as well as taking piano classes, which ignited her passion for songwriting. When she was in seventh grade April started taking guitar and piano lessons. This ignited her interest to write songs. At 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her music abilities. The songwriting began with her dad and her dad in NY and LA within a short time. April featured other topics in her track"Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled with issues such as peer pressure issues or even teenage suicide thinking. Lockhart is a partner at famous Clean Beauty brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer with her own growing following. She was born without her left hand and that is part of her story, but this isn't the whole truth. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't hide her disability but doesn't just focus on it. What's the message? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and that we are beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart is interviewed via video in Nashville. "I do not want it to define my personal life. I don't want to only be known as a disability expert. This doesn't interfere with my life. Everything is normal and I've learned how to adapt. However, I also consider it a very important component of my life. Lockhart encourages us to keep striving to be self-accepting. However, she admits that she has had periods that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance as well as wearing clothes with arms. It's her choice to wear what she likes, and happily shares pictures of her wearing these clothes. It's all a process is the most important thing. I'm not sure if will ever be the end of self-love. But, this isn't common for anyone that is prone to doubts. The people around you with that truly understand you, and can see through your eyes are the best people to remind you of what you're worried about.
